Visitor Info

Having family and friends visit while you are in the hospital can be an important part of your recovery process, so we try to be as accommodating as possible with our visitation policy. However, rest is also very important to people who are recovering from illness or surgery, so we ask that you and your visitors observe the guidelines we have established.

Supporting Your Loved One

We believe support from family and friends is a critical component of recovery.  Whether your loved one can respond to you or not, you can help keep their spirits up by simply being there. We encourage visits as often as possible and invite you to bring family pictures, letters, and cherished personal items to surround your loved one with positivity.

Visiting Hours and Guidelines

Livingston Regional Hospital has open visiting hours depending on the condition of the patient.

Hours run from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day. Visitors are asked to have only two visitors per bed and not more than four per room at any one time. Smoking is prohibited on the hospital campus except in designated smoking areas.

Please use caution when bringing young visitors to the hospital. Do not allow children with cough, fever, rash, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or recent exposure to illness to visit.

After Hours

The hospital respects, protects, and promotes patient rights. The hospital allows a family member, friend, or other individual to be present with the patient for emotional support during the course of the stay. The hospital allows for the presence of a support individual of the patient’s choice, unless the individual’s presence infringes on others’ rights, safety, or is medically or therapeutically contraindicated. The individual may or may not be the patient’s surrogate decision maker or legally authorized representative.

The hospital prohibits discrimination based on age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, language, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression. There is one exception for overnight stays: Semi-private rooms that are occupied with two patients, spouses, or a domestic partner (including a same-sex domestic partner) are NOT PERMITTED to stay after visiting hours are over. This allows patients their privacy and rights.

Gero-psych Unit (OakPoint)

Oakpoint’s visitation time is 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. No one under 12 years of age can be on the unit.

Intensive Care

Visitors to the ICU are encouraged to be present at scheduled visiting periods:  7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 4:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. Visitors unable to be present at these times may make arrangements with the ICU staff for alternative visiting times. Visitors at scheduled or arranged times are requested to knock on the door and wait to speak with a nurse before entering. New admissions, critical circumstances, emergencies, and changes in patient status may delay visiting for all patients and necessitate that all visitors leave immediately. Children are not permitted in the ICU. Exceptions to this can be made at the discretion of the ICU Nurse and Nursing Supervisor.

Women’s Center

  • Patients in active labor may not have more than two visitors at a time.
  • Siblings may visit provided that they have no known infections.
  • All visitors must wait in the family waiting room when not in the patient’s room.
  • Additional guidelines are available from the nursing staff.

Waiting Areas

Visitors are allowed to utilize the waiting areas on each unit during normal visiting hours. All visitors are required to respect the patient right to privacy. All children are to be supervised by an adult at all times. Children will not be permitted to run around the halls. Only patients in active labor and end of life may have visitors remain in the waiting rooms after hours. All visitors remaining after hours must get the approval of the nursing supervisor and/or administration.
